Egg Banking

In terms of products, Egg banking offers you most products barring a basic bank account. We have discussed elsewhere that many internet banks don't offer current accounts because high street banks offer those free.
The Egg range is growing rapidly, and currently includes a credit card, savings account, loans, mortgages, several investment options, share trading and insurance; plus their latest wheeze, the excellent Egg Pay.

Concentrating on the Egg banking products, all are in some manner innovative. The Egg credit card, for example, has a 0% starter rate not just for balance transfers (which many offer) but also for purchases- a rarity. The savings account guarantees to match or beat the Bank of England base rate- again unique. Egg mortgages have also consistently topped the "best buy" tables of independent analysts like MoneyFacts. Egg were among the first to introduce flexible mortgages, with a raft of benefits including payment holidays, overpayments, withdrawals against the balance, and offsetting against an Egg savings account.

Also don't forget Egg Pay- a simple service which lets you pay people (friends etc.) by email. Simply set up Egg pay (even if you're not an existing Egg customer) and use emails as cheques. It's very simple, reliable and again one wonders why nobody else is doing it…
