It would be fair to say that for Abbey National internet banking is nothing less than an obsession. On offer are e-banking, e-credit cards, e-mortgages, e-investment and a sharedealing service on top. It's particularly nice to see Abbey supporting the UK Online initiative- if online banking scares you, there's a link to the UK Online centres, where you can get friendly advice on taking your first steps online (and incidentally, Abbey National's website is extremely easy to use).
All Abbey National internet banking services (sorry… e-services…) are tied together under your personal homepage, which will show balances for all your accounts, mortgages, cards or other Abbey products. Amongst clever features is the ability to move money into a wide range of accounts- not just your current account but also into your ISA, for example. And the screen for moving money is particularly clever (two clicks to shunt money around from any account). On the downside, account information is restricted to the last 40 transactions, which is a bit lousy. Abbey National internet banking operates a full anti-fraud guarantee too.
By hooking all services up together, you can use your credit card account to pay bills, your current account to transfer money to a friend- all from the same toolkit. Very easy. Finally we should mention the flexible e-mortgage product: the online administration means you can borrow from your mortgage pot directly into your current account, or indeed pay off a larger sum more quickly if it suits.
